spin master the animal

The Animal is a reimagining of the classic 80’s toy. Spin Master contacted Big Monster Toys about collaborating on this item. I got the ball rolling by first working on some concept sketches and then by engineering a new claw mechanism.

I designed several claw ideas in Rhino and animated them all in Keyshot. Once approved, I fine-tuned the claw mechanism, printed and assembled all four wheels and tires, which the truck was then designed around.

While they did ultimately reference my sketches for the look of the final product, the new claw was scrapped for cost concerns. Sometimes, even though a design is effective and unique, there is no fighting the realities of cost concerns when dealing with consumer products.

A cool remake of the classic toy, the Animal was another great collaboration with the great team at Spin Master.
