Mattel Disney pixar Toy story action armour buzz lightyear

Designed at Big Monster Toys with Brett Mich, Buzz was quickly made and rushed through the Mattel machine. Chris Downs and the people at Mattel did a great job translating our prototype into everyone’s favorite Space Ranger.

Wings that turn into shoulder-mounted armor is the basis of this toy. Our prototype transformed slightly differently than the finished item. Mattel really translated what Brett and I made into Pixar gold, tailoring the transformation for Buzz Lightyear.
